Spice 6 is one of the first fast-casual restaurants of it’s kind in the Washington DC area. It's modern Indian cooking style draws inspiration from around the globe while focusing on authentic taste of Indian food. Spice 6 delivers a modern take on authentic Indian cuisine & aesthetics through its wholesome fresh menu options.

Chef Upendra Thapaliya was Born in Katmandu, Nepal, Thapaliya had a strong desire to cook from a young age. His family, however, did not wish for their son to endure the hardships of a chef's life in Nepal 23 years ago, and thus discouraged him from pursuing a career in the culinary arts. 

Disagreeing with family at the age of 19, Thapaliya joined the culinary arts school in Nepal and start following his dream in culinary arts and after graduating from culinary school he became apprentice at 3 Star hotel Manang in Katmandu. 

After his apprenticeship, Thapaliya was hired as level 3 chef at Manang hotel. From working at the hotel he learned many things about culinary arts such as Indian, Chinese and Continental food. From there he went on to working as a head chef in a 4 star hotel Vasali in Kathmandu, Nepal, the capital of the country, While working Thapaliya started teaching culinary arts at Base Matric Skill Training Center where he became very popular and was well known due to his delicious recipes and many years of experience. He then progressed to be the executive chef of a 5-star hotel Shangri-La and won numerous culinary awards in Katmandu, Nepal. 

Since Opening of Spice 6 in may 2012, Thapaliya is serving patrons of Spice 6 with his versatile experience in Indian food. Thapaliya has advised Singh family on every aspect of Spice 6 including concept, menu development and service execution.
